NEEDS ASSESSMENT FOR COVID-19 RESPONSE PROJECT 001

1.0. INTRODUCTION
The needs assessment will typically collect qualitative and/or quantitative data; three weeks within commencement of the project activities in order to track and assess both software and hardware interventions and materials needed to effectively respond to Covid-19 pandemic in 40 school communities, market spaces and border posts in Malawi, Lesotho, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
1.1 BACKGROUND
Global Hope Mobilization (GLOHOMO) has been given a grant to implement an eight months (May to December 2020) emergency response project to Covid-19 pandemic. The package for this emergency response include implementation of interventions which will effectively address key challenges affecting health and education sector amidst Covid-19 in Malawi, Lesotho, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The overall goal of this emergency project is implement innovative, tailor made and sustainable interventions to respond to Covid-19 and even the future similar pandemic.
2.0. OVERVIEW OF THE SURVEY
The main purpose of this Needs Assessment will be collection of baseline data that will serve the purpose of informing the project team on the situation on the ground. At the end of the project, a decision on whether the project has achieved its targets, goals and objectives will be made based on comparison between the results of the needs assessment and end of project evaluation report. The Needs Assessment shall also inform the kind and magnitude of interventions to be employed per specific country or site as level of preparedness may vary from one country or site to another. The needs assessment shall also include the use of different data collection tools to be used for Key Informant Interviews (KII), in depths interviews (IDI) and a facility questionnaire (a special questionnaire to capture baseline or status data of sample schools and health facilities under Future Life-Now!)

Develop and implement 365 days Communication and Advocacy Strategy Plan for GLOHOMO:

  • Developing Communication Strategy of the organization
  • Conduct analysis on advocacy needs and strategy;
  • Conduct stakeholder consultation on the development of advocacy strategy, and how this advocacy strategy will support the socialization as well as mainstreaming of SDGs (including internal and external communication);
  • Formulate action plans for specific initiatives that would generate stakeholders’ participation, aiming at building relevant platforms and channels for their voices to be heard and for policy influencing.
  • Devising strategies to drive online traffic to online platforms eg. Organisarion website.
  • Tracking conversion rates and making improvements to digital platforms.
  • Planning digital marketing campaigns, including web, email, social media and display advertising.
  • Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns, and assess against goals.
  • Utilize strong analytical ability to evaluate data coming across users of the site to aid retention through Returning Users and more.
  • Maintaining the Organisation’s social media presence across all digital channels.

Produce knowledge products materials:

  • Production of leaflets, brochures, social media content, etc to complement media packages for communicating the project in coordination with the Communications Officer;
  • Draft and edit English articles and reports, as appropriate;
  • Archiving up-to-date documentation for publications, clippings, as well as photographic and audio-visual materials. Supports documentation of innovations and best practices;
  • Support the project team on shaping policy advocacy agenda and strategy, including advising project team on the appropriate outlets and timely dissemination of advocacy and communication materials to target audiences;
  • Maintain and develop collegial relationships with government, donors, civil society organizations; communication counterparts ,media outlets at national and provincial levels as well as with groups and organizations whose support is essential to enhance cooperation and ensure coherence in public information activities and messages;
  • Develop development raising awareness concept.

Competencies

  • Good knowledge of development issues and practical experience in lobby and advocacy;

Education:

JOB RESIPONSIBILITIES

Reporting directly to the Program Manager, will be responsible for all project activities related to Health Care Delivery. The position is tenable in Lilongwe/Lusaka at GLOHOMO Head Office of the organization.   

  • Overall management of the Projects
  • Produce programmatic activity, monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual organizational reports
  • Managing Human Resource under the Project
  • Problem solving encountered during the implementation of the project
  • Provide  overall leadership  on the  project or programme execution;

  • Ensure that GLOHOMO project targeted areas have appropriate corporate governance structures for effective delivery of all GLOHOMO activities

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Degree in Public Health Care Management/Health Services Management /Community Development, Social Science, Knowledge of Demography and Statistics Planning would be an added advantage;
  • At least 5 years’ experience in management of care and treatment programmes, health care services, quality assurance supportive supervision, resource planning and resource mobilisation;
